Sally Stetson, Denise Christman, John Touey and Donna DeHart discuss common interview mistakes and give suggestions on making a good impression and successfully marketing yourself to prospective employers.
The number one mistake is talking too much, which can be a turn-off for interviewers. Be clear and succinct and speak in paragraphs rather than chapters. Other common mistakes include poor body language and presentation, displaying a lack of interest, and not having a thoughtful answer to why the candidate is interested in the opportunity. Ask good, specific questions that show the candidate has researched the company. Finally, show passion for the career and the position.
